Jones Legacy Foundation was created to provide scholarships to college students who are at-risk of not completing their college education due to a lack of funding.  Jones Legacy Foundation is in honor of Lee and Gatha Jones.  This foundation was established by their grandchildren,  most of  whom graduated from Galveston County public schools.

Married for over 30 years and with 5 children together, Lee (a cotton factory worker) and Gatha Jones (a school cook with the Galveston Independent School District) overcame life's challenges and left a legacy of family and service that has trickled down to  the current generation.  They are  survived by a host of grandchildren and more than 20  great grandchildren.

The Jones family includes graduates from Galveston College, Stephen F. Austin University, University of Texas at Galveston, Spelman College, Jarvis Christian College, The College of Health Care Professions, University of Houston Clear Lake, and College of the Mainland.

Jones Legacy Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
